It is an exact replica of a tiny sand dollar collected (already dead) from the shores of the Florida Panhandle. A mold was made of the sand dollar, then the pendant was hand-formed using copper metal clay. A verdigris patina was added to give it an amazing ancient appearance, as if it just washed up from Atlantis! The sweet little shell hangs on an 18" brown leather cord, which is finished with a copper S-hook and embellished with a tiny Mikonos copper shell.

The metal is ground into fine particles which are mixed with an organic cellulose binder and water to form a clay, which is then molded then fired and returned to its metal state. They use these spines to move around the ocean floor, and also to carry food to their mouth.
