This is a very unique ring of a deep blue piece of Leland Blue glass slag from Lake Superior set in sterling silver with a split double band.

The "stone" is Leland Blue, actually slag, a waste product mix of glass and other chemicals from the smelting process used in the late 1800s by the Leland Lake Superior Iron Company in northern Michigan. This piece possesses a rich blend of navy blue and slate gray, with patches of creamy, earthy tones. The lustrous silver enhances the stone's intensity, and the tiny silver balls encircling the stone reflect the patterns in the stone.
