These are fun and truly unique earrings. I picked young sage leaves from the herb garden in my yard, then painstakingly painted many (many!) coats of thinned fine silver metal clay onto them. The clay, like a thick paint, settles into all of the tiny nooks and crannies of the leaves. Once dried, the clay is fired, and the leaf burns away leaving an exact replica in fine silver! No two will ever be alike. I have given them a light patina to bring out the incredible texture of the leaves. On the backs are handmade vines and leaves, a secret treasure just for you. The earwires are handmade of sterling silver. These eco-friendly lovelies are truly a celebration of nature and craftsmanship combined, and are a beautiful and sustainable accessory option for the fashion conscious.

>>>Fine silver metal clay is an eco-friendly product made from recycled silver. The metal is pulverized into minute particles and mixed with an organic cellulose binder and water to form a clay. When fired, the binder burns out and what remains is pure or "fine" silver, 99.9% (.999) silver. The clay used here is Art Clay, from Aida Chemicals in Japan, which is a green company.
